Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Your guide meets you at Entebbe International Airport or your Kampala hotel with a welcome bouquet and transfers you southwest through the rolling hills of Kigezi. As you descend to the crater-lake basin, the first view of Lake Bunyonyi—dotted with 29 tranquil islands—takes your breath away. Check in to your private lakeside cottage, enjoy a chilled welcome drink on your deck, and watch the sun sink behind the hills before a romantic dinner for two.
Day 2: Lake Bunyonyi — Kayak, Islands & Sundowner
Spend the full day exploring Africa's second-deepest lake at your own pace. A guided morning kayak takes you to Bwama Island (home to a historic leper colony-turned-school) and peaceful Punishment Island, steeped in legend. After lunch at the lodge, the afternoon is yours—swim in the bilharzia-free waters, birdwatch from the canoe, or simply relax on your deck. As dusk approaches, your guide takes you to a hilltop lookout for sundowner cocktails with views that stretch across the entire lake basin.
Day 3: Scenic Transfer to Bwindi & Forest Walk
After a leisurely breakfast, drive the short but spectacular route to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The landscape shifts from open farmland to dark, cathedral-like forest. Settle into your forest lodge perched on the park boundary, then join a gentle evening guided walk along the park edge to spot birds, primates, and the lush forest understorey. A gorilla briefing over dinner prepares you for tomorrow's headline experience.
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Rise early and report to park headquarters for your gorilla briefing. With rangers and expert trackers leading the way, you venture deep into one of Africa's most ancient forests. The hike—ranging from one to six hours through dense undergrowth and steep ridges—builds anticipation with every step. Then, suddenly, they are there: a habituated gorilla family moving through the forest barely metres away, completely at ease in your presence. Spend a magical permitted hour observing silverbacks, playful juveniles, and nursing mothers. Back at the lodge, collect your certificates and celebrate with a private champagne toast.
Day 5: Leisure Morning & Return to Entebbe
Wake to birdsong and enjoy a final breakfast with views of the mist rolling off the forest canopy. Your last morning is free—join a short guided trail, pick up a handcrafted Batwa souvenir, or simply linger over coffee together. Then your safari vehicle sweeps you back to Entebbe, arriving in the early evening in time for your onward flight or an overnight at a lakeside hotel. A safari chapter closes; your love story is just beginning.
